Pop art

Last week, we were very lucky to have Lisa Morgan visit our class, to talk to us about Pop Art and to help us create some art of our own. Lisa explained that Pop Art was the name of a style that aimed to bring art to ordinary people. The subject matter of pop art was popular culture, such as, brands of sweets and drinks and other material from the world of advertising; cartoon characters and popular icons.  As part of her talk, she discussed some famous artists from the movement and asked the children to discuss their work and styles.   Lisa focussed on artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

We then began working on our own pieces of art, influenced by the works of the 2 artists.  Below are just a sample of our pieces.
