Shelter Building with Ms French

Last week I had a lovely time meeting my new class and finding out just how resourceful and inventive they are.  I told them a story about a ship in 1936 that was sailing to New Zealand when it hit a storm.  The people on board the ship were ship wrecked on a deserted, tropical island and would have had to fend for themselves.  Working in groups, the class then had to solve problems such as getting across a swamp, rolling coconuts and building shelters.

It was lots of fun but many of them got wet due to a tropical rainstorm which blew up just as the groups got into their shelters.
