Halloween

There were some truly scary sights in Primary 6 today.  Take a look.  If you dare!

Food Focus Fortnight - Cereal Bars

This week we have been investigating cereal bars, their ingredients and when they might be a good snack.

We also made fruit, oat and cereal bars. We used the recipe below but swapped out some of the key ingredients e.g. the types of nuts and used reduced fat butter.  We also designed packaging for our bars.

Class Economy

We have begun Class Economy.  Each of us has a bank book and in it record our weekly budget.  Credits to our accounts include: wages, money for jobs and bonuses.  Debits include: tax, seat hire and fines.

This week the class bank opened for the first time and we withdrew some of our money in cash.

Today the class shop opened for the first time and several other businesses began trading including: Rentamania, Art Shop, A Face Painting Service and other shops.

I was also presented with the first trading contract for a seat hire company.  My lawyers had to check over the proposed contract before it was signed.

There are a few budding entrepreneurs in 6C!

Pop art

Last week, we were very lucky to have Lisa Morgan visit our class, to talk to us about Pop Art and to help us create some art of our own. Lisa explained that Pop Art was the name of a style that aimed to bring art to ordinary people. The subject matter of pop art was popular culture, such as, brands of sweets and drinks and other material from the world of advertising; cartoon characters and popular icons.  As part of her talk, she discussed some famous artists from the movement and asked the children to discuss their work and styles.   Lisa focussed on artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

We then began working on our own pieces of art, influenced by the works of the 2 artists.  Below are just a sample of our pieces.
